This book was so much fun and quite effortless to read. It started with a nice little bang, and kept up the pace from there. Loved the two main characters Lucan and Gabrielle, both of whom were just as interesting when solo-onstage as together. This book also sets up some juicy seeds that are intended to bloom throughout the next several books; the small glimpses given of the other Breed warriors was enough to make one actually look forward to finding out more about them. A good sign. :o)It was also interesting to see another take on the nature of vampirism...not sure I've ever come across an origin story like that of these vamps, and in this case its a most welcome (and non-cheesy) element.Sure, there's the inevitable comparison to series like the Black Dagger Brotherhood and Dark Hunter, but this book shows promise of the Midnight Breed series being intriguing and enjoyable in its own right.
